Iain Haight-Ashton
R. Iain Haight-Ashton is a consultant systems Engineer
and consults from time to time on Historical sites. He has been
a collector, historian and curator of 17th & 18th century
Americana for many years. Iain was an educational director of
a historic site.
As a 17th
and 18th century living history re-enactor for over 15 years,
he has displayed and lectured about 17th & 18th century themes
for historic sites. His repertoire includes The English Speak
Union in both New York and New Jersey branches. He arranged a
summer display at Princeton, at Hershey Museum in Pennsylvania,
at Lexington in Massachusetts, at Washington Crossing Historical
Park as well as the Franklin Inn and Van Wickle House. Iain is
a consultant to other sites in Montgomery County in Pennsylvania.
Iain became
involved with The Meadows through Johanna Hnedak. She visited
him and introduced herself while attending a lecture in New Brunswick
back in 1992. Since 1994 he has been active as a member. He is
now serving a second term on the board and is currently the Living
History Chair person for the Meadows. As such he asks that you
please support living history. He feels strongly that it is the
best outreach to the public.
In addition
to The Meadows, Iain is a member of The Trent House in Trenton,
The New Hope Historical Society, Easton Heritage Alliance, New
Brunswick Historical Society and various re-enactment organizations.
He has earned
various awards from the Daughter of the American Revolution on
the British Perspective. The Easton Heritage Alliance honored
him for outstanding service in displays of 18th century Life.
Iain is recognized for setting up the first lecture series for
the Easton Home for Children; for the first Core Curriculum at
the Easton Middle School in Living History as part of the 5th
grade History program.
