Mary
Anne McMillan
Board Member
Hageman House and
Farmland Chair
Mary Anne
McMillan is a Horticultural Therapist. With experience as a former
Office Coordinator for an equipment department of a major corporation
and currently a coordinator of the volunteers for Rutgers Gardens,
she feels that she has a lot to offer The Meadows. She was responsible
for writing the Policies and Procedures for the corporate department
and relied on that experience as a member of the Meadows Policies
and Procedure committee. Every organization needs to understand
volunteer management, especially non profits.
Like so many other Meadows members, Mary Anne became involved
through her association with Dr. Bruce Hamilton, one of the founding
Meadows members. It was 12 years ago while at the Rutgers Gardens
that he sparked her interest in saving these wonderful old Meadows
Foundation houses and she became a member of the Van
Wickle house for 12 years and participated at every Pumpkin
Patch and Sinterklaas since.
Mary Anne has served 9 years on the Board of Directors, holding
the offices of Secretary for 4 years and VP for 4 years, as well
as a member of the strategic planning and lease committees. Currently
she is chairperson of the Hageman Farm House, member of the Policy
and Procedures Committee and the Living History Committee.
Additionally Mary Anne volunteers as an Executive Board member/Treasurer
of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of American Horticultural Therapy
Association (AHTA), and Middlesex County Master Gardener as Coordinator
of the Horticultural Therapy committee/program. She is a former
Board Member of the Scotch Plains High School Alumni.
Mary Anne is honored with a certificate of recognition from Middlesex
County Master Gardeners 2004 and in 1996 with a certificate of
recognition from The Meadows Foundation.
