Johanna
M. Hnedak
Johanna M. Hnedak is a Substitute Paraprofessional - Teacher's
Assistant for the Franklin Township Board of Education. She retired
as a secretary from a local corporation. Since then she has been
a volunteer at many fundraising events. Additionally, Johannas
gentle ways and warm conversation have introduced many people
to The Meadows Foundation.
Originally
Johanna attended several events at the Blackwells
Mills Canal House. Then she joined and eventually became a
Canal House board member. She joined The Meadows Foundation twelve
years ago and has served as a board member nine years, and has
been instrumental in the formation of the Living History Committee
in which she has volunteered for twelve years.
Johannas
interest in early American history developed as an active member
of the East Jersey Olde Towne where she volunteered as a guild
member and docent. She serves at Sts. Peter & Paul Church
participating in fund raising and hostessing at events. Many know
her through her volunteer work as Fire Hostess at the East Franklin
Volunteer Fire Department. She is a member of the Somerset County
Board of Elections and has been appointed to be an Election Worker.
In 1999 Johanna
received an Appreciation Award from Fire Commissioners of District
Three in Franklin Township for exceptional service as a fire hostess
for bringing refreshments to fire scenes. She reprised the award
again in 2004, earning a Recognition Award for relentless dedication
to the firefighters in bringing refreshments to fire scenes.
She received
an Appreciation Award from The Meadows Foundation in 1999 for
outstanding service and dedication to Living History Programs,
as well as in 1997 for devotion to living history programming
efforts.
