Jan Ten BroekeJan Ten Broeke
Board Member

Jan ten Broeke was born in the remote area of Marienberg in the province Overijssel of the Netherlands. Being fluent in Dutch helps
The Meadows advance the Dutch heritage and communicate with fellow landsman. Additionally he has a keen eye for detail and appreciation of older things, houses and tools, which supports the historic research and integrity of the properties.

He is a volunteer at The Franklin Inn, and either bicycles or walks there from his historic home. In 1999 he joined the Board of Directors for a term, and then joined the Board again in 2002. Throughout his membership, Jan and his wife, Barbara have been hardworking volunteers active in several events and working at several properties
cleaning, scrubbing, and painting.

Jan does not think that his biographical details are of great importance, and he releases this information with great reluctance. Jan is a practicing artist and retired chemist from Merck. He feels his work has a chance of limited survival, his body does not. Ultimately, his mind, his eyes and hands were only instrumental in producing this work. There is a limited amount of information is available in "Who's Who in American Art" under the listing of "Ten". Jan is president of the Millstone Coalition, keeping an eye on the historic district of East Millstone and the Blackwell Mills D&R Canal house.
