Evelyn MaronEvelyn K. Maron
2nd VP Programming, Arts and Culter Chair

Evelyn K. Maron is retired from the Piscataway school system after 27 years as social worker. Previously she worked in family counseling and child welfare. She earned a BA from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.

She joined the Meadows over 10 years ago and has served as Secretary. Evelyn has researched and written articles for the Meadowlark and has represented the Meadow's at the Raritan Millstone Heritage Alliance. She is an active Meadows volunteer who has served on many committees at many events. It was after attending a Candlelight Concert that she became interested in the Meadows. She was enchanted by the wonderful chamber music and program, lead by the talented flutist, Miriam Nelson. Evelyn felt the setting and acoustics at the
Van Wickle House
were wonderful, as they emulated how chamber music probably was presented in the past. She has rarely missed a concert since. Generally she can be found volunteering as a hostess and refreshment baker. Chris Retz has presented a fascinating series of "Fireside Chats" in several of our historic houses that fully attended by enthusiastic listeners. Other committee members have made valuable contributions to the programs.

Evelyn was nominated to the Board of Directors shortly after making her interest in the organization known. In 2003 she was asked to form a new Arts and Culture committee. Thus far under her guidance, The Meadows has presented Pulitzer Prize winning poet Paul Muldoon, musical entertainers Lucille Carr-Kaffashan and Bobby Byrne, as well as the Cantabile Chorale and the Gloria Consort, a baroque chamber group.

In other volunteer endeavors, she has work with Contact We Care Crisis Help line for five years. She has completed nearly 700 hours of service to several organization. She is also a member of COSAC, the NJ Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community.
