In memory of Betty
K. Scott
Betty K. Scott is a retired Gift Shop Manager, who currently
works as a museum office manager and docent.
East Jersey
Olde Town commissioned Betty to research the historic properties.
In 1996 she completed that work and began the research project
on the Meadows Foundation properties. It was Mark Else, then president
of the Meadows, who asked Betty to research the history of the
Meadows Properties. She completed the project in 1998. Betty joined
The Meadows Board in 1997, and served as Secretary for four years.
She chairs the Board Manual Committee since 2002 as well as volunteering
on six other committees. Betty is an integral publicity committee
member, responsible for writing and distributing press releases.
Besides the
Meadows, Betty demonstrates her commitment to history through
her membership involvement with the East Jersey Olde Towne Inc,
The Metlar-Bodine House Museum and the Raritan Millstone Heritage
Alliance where she served as its first secretary. Since 1994,
she has received a Certificate of Service annually from the Metlar-Bodine
House Museum. In 1998, she was named Member of the Year"
the museum's highest honor.
"Patience and perseverance have a magical affect before which difficulties disappear and
obstacles vanish." -John Quincy Adams
The Meadows Foundation extends our deepest sympathy to Betty's family and friends. Her tragic death on April 11, 2006 will be mourned, but her life will be celebrated through her hard work, humor and love. As a tribute to Betty who so loved history, The Meadows Foundation will post her research and other writings online. View Betty's work, "The Last Bridge Tender" |
