Cool Women Poets of New Jersey
"Over the River and through the Woods "
by: Evelyn K. Maron
The wildly popular “Cool Women Poets of New Jersey” will have a return engagement at the Meadows Foundation on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. The theme for the reading is “Over the River and through the Woods,” appropriate for the season and setting at the Meadows’ beautiful wooded Tulipwood property, 1165 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ.
“One of the things that makes the group’s performances so unique is that the poets don’t know which poems they will be reading until they interact with the others,” said Meadows Arts & Culture Committee chair Evelyn Maron. “Their style of reading is concert-like (jazz), with the performers demonstrating their individual styles as well as being part of the ensemble,” Ms. Maron added. The poets have individually published numerous books and prose as well as poetry and readings on CDs. Materials will be available for sale at the event. Light refreshments will be served after the performance, at which time the audience will have the chance to engage in conversation with the poets. Tickets to the poetry reading are $10 each and can be reserved by calling 732-560-1977. www.themeadowsfoundation.org
